JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A blizzard continues to ravage the Midwest, leaving behind major drifted snow, icy roads, and stranded motorists.

The weeklong storm has dropped major snow including 14.5 inches in Ashley, 14 inches in Ellendale and Jamestown, and 12 inches in Montpelier.

Bismarck National Weather Service Meteorologist Janine Vining says the storm isn’t done either.

Vining says right now, they’re expecting high winds to continue through the evening, but die down over the course of Monday.

With these conditions. many roads have been closed and no travel has been advised. North Dakota Highway Patrol Sgt. Benjamin Kennelly says roads have only gotten worse since Sunday morning.

Kennelly says once the plows were pulled, it’s allowed the road conditions to deteriorate even more.

Sgt. Kennelly says if you don’t need to go anywhere, stay where you are. If you absolutely need to travel, pack a blanket, food, and leave with a full tank of gas.
