Veblen, S.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Two teenagers have died due to a crash on the northeastern border between North and South Dakota Monday morning.

The crash happened at approximately 9 AM on a gravel road northwest of Veblen, South Dakota, which is about 25 miles northwest of Sisseton. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the driver of the vehicle lost control and crashed into a tree.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, died while en route to the hospital via helicopter. The 17-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The names of the two victims have not been released. Both the driver and the passenger were wearing seatbelts.
