JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Approximately 3,000 items were donated for the “Stuff the Civic” event, organized by the Student Council at Jamestown High School.

The event began as a way to help remedy the food needs of the area. The public was invited to drop off goods at the Jamestown Civic Center on Friday, December 20th. Students also went around to participating businesses to collect food.

The final destination of the food is still being determined, but the Jamestown Student Council says the items will remain with local food shelves.

The goal was to collect 10,000 pounds of non-perishable food items. As of Saturday, no word on if that goal was met. The event was inspired by the “Fill the Dome” event in Fargo and an event at the Jamestown Middle School.
