VALLEY CITY, N.D. (Newsdakota.com) – Making a big impact right away, that is what Jessie Undem did in the spring of 2019 with the Valley City softball team. And now she will get a chance to make an impact at the college level. Thursday the senior catcher signed with Minnesota State-Moorhead.
At a signing ceremony Thursday at the Hi-Liner Activity Center, Undem became a Dragon and says she started thinking about playing college softball five years ago.
Minnesota State, Moorhead is an NCAA Division II school in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. And Undem says she fell in love with the campus and her future teammate who took her under their wing even before she is a regular teammate.
In 2019, the Hi-Liners finished 17-8 and took third at the state tournament in Minot. Undem was a big part of that team. And is an experience she will remember for a long time.
As a junior, Undem hit .359 with three home runs and 21 rbi. She also set the team record for putouts in a season with 249.
