LIDGERWOOD, N.D. (KFGO) – The investigation into the collision of a Lidgerwood, ND school bus and a train will be lengthy.
State Highway Patrol Captain Bryan Niewind says there will be a significant amount of work involved to determine what caused the crash at a crossing in Lidgerwood. He said that will include reconstruction of the crash, review of onboard video from the bus and the train, inspection of the bus to determine if mechanical equipment was working properly and interviews with eyewitnesses to the crash.
Three students injured were taken to local hospitals by ambulance. One student was airlifted to a Fargo hospital. The injuries are not life-threatening but Niewind said they are serious, there was 18 students on the bus and the driver.
