JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The second day of the 2019 Stutsman County Invitational Class B Girls Basketball tournament was held on Friday with another four games at the Jamestown Civic Center, here are the results:
Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier 49 Napoleon/Gackle/Streeter 33
Senior Maren Berntson was four steals away from a triple-double for the Rebels, she had 25 points, 14 rebounds and six steals to help EKM move into the consolation championship on Saturday. She was 7/12 at the charity stripe and added two assists. The Imperials turned the ball over 26 times and committed 21 fouls, the Rebels were 14/32 at the free throw line. NGS was led by Teagan Erbele with nine points and seven rebounds. EKM improves to 1-3 overall, NGS drops to 0-4 overall.
South Border 36 Warwick 24
The Mustangs held the Warriors to just five first half points and led 16-5 at the break. Nicole Schmidt and Reagan Gross had nine points each to lead the Mustangs, Emily Jochim had seven points and 10 rebounds and four steals for SB as well. Hillary Archamnault led the way for the Warriors with eight points. Both teams shot only 25% from the field. SB improves to 2-3 overall, Warwick drops to 0-5 overall.
Medina/Pingree/Buchanan 55 Ellendale 25
The Thunder jumped to a 14-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back as they improve to 3-0 overall and move into the championship game on Saturday for the sixth straight year. MPB has one championship in the last five years, winning it in 2015 over Ellendale. The Thunder had three players in double figures, Megan Moser had 12 points and seven steals, Gracie Bohl and Ryleigh Martin each added 10. Ellendale was led by Calli Hauck with 10 points. MPB shot 47% from the field, the Cardinals shot just 30%. Ellendale drops to 3-1 on the season.
Carrington 67 Midkota 35
The Cardinals led 38-16 at halftime over the Mustangs. Senior Hannah Hagel led way with 19 points and 12 rebounds for Carrington, followed by Addison Hoornaert with 14 points and five assists, Kiera Eli added 12, including two 3-pointers. Midkota was led by Brenna Anderson with 11. The Cardinals of Carrington once again move into the championship game for the fourth time in six years. The won it in ’14, ’16 and ’18. Carrinton improves to 3-0, Midkota drops to 2-3.
