VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For head coach Alex Quist, it was an early Christmas present. The Valley City Hi-Liner boys hit 16 three-pointers and used a 20-7 run to end the first half and open up a 32-16 lead on the way to a 64-47 win over Lisbon Friday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center. It was the first win for the rookie head coach.

Peyton Zaun led the three-point barrage with eight and finished with 28 points for Valley City. The eight three pointers were one off the school record of nine held by Jeff Boschee and Shane Ost.

The Hi-Liners made 11 field goals in the first half, ten were three pointers. In the second half, six o nine field goals were three-pointers.

Mitchel Taylor and Derrek Diegel, scored nine points each. Jared Eggermont had six points.

Robert Adam led the Broncos with 18 points. Reece Holmstrom had 13. The were the only two in double figures.

Valley City improves to 1-2 on the season. This was Lisbon’s season opener.
