JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Salvation Army is in dire need of volunteer bell ringers.

According to Major Judy Lowder, they are currently in need of volunteers to man kettles in the community. She estimates that right now, they have over 1,000 hours of time that need to be filled through December 24th. The Red Kettle Campaign is the Salvation Army’s largest fundraising event and Major Lowder says they rely on that funding to get them through the following year.

The non-profit uses funds to help combat addiction, assist the unemployed, fight human trafficking, serve veterans, and more.

Major Lowder says once they know how much they’ve raised, they’ll look to stretch the dollars as much as possible to serve Stutsman County.

Lowder says any donation to a red kettle in the community helps, but kettle’s can only be placed if they have a volunteer to ring the bell alongside it. And right now, there’s a great need for more volunteers.

The goal for the Jamestown Salvation Army has been set at $139,000. Lowder says they have introduced Apple Pay and Google Pay as another form of donating at the kettles this holiday season.

Available sites to ring include Cashwise Foods, Jamestown Business Center, Buffalo Mall, and Walmart. You can visit registertoring.com and sign up to volunteer.

You can contact Major Judy Lowder at 701-269-3930 or 701-252-0290 for more information on the Salvation Army, to register, or make a donation today.
