FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown finished their season with a 3-2 win (25-17, 25-27, 25-18, 25-20, 15-6) over Valley City in the Class A consolation championship.
The Jays came out and took care of business in set one with a dominate 25-17 win.
In the second, Grace Hegerle injured her right ring finger with the Jays up 23-20 and left the set for a few points. But she clearly wasn’t her normal-self and hit a couple balls out as the Hi-Liners captured the second set in extra points.
Valley City kept the momentum and raced out to a 25-18 win in set three. “I was worried we were going to end our season with another loss,” said Coach Sara Hegerle after the match. “But credit it our kids, they started having fun again and realized this was out it.”
Jamestown never blinked in the fourth or the fifth set to finish off the come-from-behind victory. They took control of the fifth set with a 10-3 start.
Ella Roaldson ended the match with a team-high 15 kills. Jessa Anderson finished with 14 and Hegerle had 12.
Macy Olstad led the Hi-Liners with 19.
