exit-257-close

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown moved to reaffirm their support of keeping Exit 257 open.

Jamestown City Engineer Travis Dillman says in September, the Department of Transportation met with them to discuss the exit.

Dillman stated from the meeting, it was determined that the city give their stance on Exit 257 and whether or not to keep it open.

In 2018, the city passed a resolution to give their support of keeping Exit 257 open.

City Councilman Dave Steele stated that they should have a plan in place moving forward.

Dillman says they would need to take in all those considerations before making a decision and what stipulations would be put on it.

Mayor Dwaine Heinrich stated that if they wanted the city to front the cost, there would be no way to afford it unless the state paid for it.

The committee encouraged Dillman to draft a letter with the city’s concerns on paying for the closure and the stance of keeping it open.
