VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series Season Presents: Dr. Terry Shoptaugh (MSU Prof Emeritus) “Sons of the Wild Jackass: The Nonpartisan League in North Dakota” 7PM Friday November 22, at the Barnes County Museum.

North Dakota State University Press announces the publication of Sons of The Wild Jackass by Terry L. Shoptaugh. Sons of the Wild Jackass: The Nonpartisan League in North Dakota, tells the story of the Farmers’ revolt in North Dakota that fundamentally changed the power of agriculture in the state.

Shoptaugh, now retired from Moorhead State University, is the author of six previous, books including Roots of Success: History of the Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers, and “You have been Kind Enough to Assist Me”: Herman Stern and the Jewish Refugee Crisis.

Using newspapers from across the state, speeches and national news magazines, Shoptaugh has told the story of the Nonpartisan League from the personal perspectives of those who lived in that era, explaining the legacy of the League and the impact it had on agriculture across the nation.
