JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A non-profit that washes clothes and bedding for low to no income families has been doing so in the area for around 2 years.
Laundry Love was started when Terri Krovoza saw a need for the service.
Laundry Love in Jamestown has helped 118 individuals and families, averaging between 14 to 16 individuals monthly who use the service.
Krovoza says Laundry Love started with the story of Eric, also known as T-Bone, a homeless man living in Ventura, California.
Krovoza says a site is registered and anyone who needs the service only needs to arrive at the site in the alloted time to receive the support. The Jamestown site is Rainbow Laundry and operations 3 PM to 7 PM on the 3rd Thursday of the month.
In order to keep the non-profit operable, other Jamestown entities have come together. Robin Iszler with Central Valley Health says helping Laundry Love is part of their initiative.
Cassie DuBray with the South Central Homeless Coalition says they were approached by Laundry Love to become the financial agent for the organization.
In order to maintain the service, Laundry Love in Jamestown requires between $200 to $250 monthly to operate. Central Valley Health will be hosting a Laundry Love Sunday on December 1st to encourage churches and other entities to donate to the cause.
Right now, DuBray and Iszler say monetary donations are needed to keep the service in Jamestown.
