JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It’s a common message from the James River Humane Society.
“It’s not our shelter, it’s your shelter.”
The non-profit has operated in the Jamestown area for nearly 35 years, giving abandoned and mistreated dogs and cats a new home. To do this, they’ve relied on donations of food, supplies, and more to keep going.
Humane Society Board Member Jay Nitchke says they spay and neuter all animals before they are adopted.
This is where a lot of their funding is needed. She says recently, local dealerships held a competition to collect items for the shelter. She says the support is amazing.
Nitchke says other ways the public can help is volunteer or even stop by and provide some interaction time with the animals.
Nitchke also highlighted some dogs that were up for adoption. You can hear about them in the interview below.
