VALLEY CITY, N.D. (vcsuvikings.com) – The Valley City State Women’s Basketball team defeated Providence College Saturday, 89-50. Thirteen Vikings scored in the game leading up to the big win.
Valley City State scored the first nine points of the game, including five from Mackenzie Huber to start the home game Saturday. The Vikings held the Pilots to only six points in the first quarter. Valley City State continued to dominate, taking a 51-25 lead at halftime.
The Vikings coasted in the second half leading by as many as 43 points en route to the home victory.
Valley City State scored 61 bench points Saturday, including 17 from Breanna Price and 13 from Taryn Dieterle. Adrianna Torres led the Vikings with nine rebounds as the Vikings tallied 46 rebounds to the Pilots’ 18 in the game.
Valley City State shot 55 percent from the field (33-60), 41 percent on 3’s (7-17), and 76 percent on free throws (16-21). Providence College shot 33 percent from the field (19-58), 30 percent on 3’s (6-20), and 50 percent from the free throw line (6-12).
Valley City State improves to 1-2 on the season. Valley City State hosts Providence College again Sunday, November 3, at 1 p.m.
