JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown Theatre Department is preparing for their annual Fall musical November 7th, 8th, and 9th.
Each year, University of Jamestown Theatre Director Mike McIntyre selects a musical to be performed in the fall. This year, they will be presenting their production of the Tony-award winning musical “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder.”
“A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder” is a musical comedy, with the book and lyrics by Robert L. Freedman and the music and lyrics by Steven Lutvak. The Broadway production won four Tony Awards at the 68th Tony Awards in June 2014, including Best Musical.
McIntyre says the show is centered on a man who finds out he is ninth in line for a massive family fortune.
Shane Chandler is the actor who will be portraying the role of 9 different characters. He’s says to this point, it’s been fun and challenging to learn the roles for each individual.
UJ Student Alex Delzer portrays the main character and says his favorite part of preparing for the show is the musical variety.
McIntyre pointed out the musical had just become available for the University, meaning it could be the first production of the show in North Dakota.
The show will be performed at 7:30 PM each night November 7th, 8th, and 9th in the Reiland Fine Arts Center. The cost of tickets is $10 and can be purchased by either calling (701) 252-3467 ext. 5435 or email tickets@uj.edu.
