CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) For the first time ever, the District 5 volleyball tournament was held at Carrington High School in the new East gymnasium. Day one of the tourney saw the higher seeds all advance, here are the results:
No. 4 Midkota over No. 5 Barnes County North 3-1 (27-25, 13-25, 25-21, 25-10)
Hunter Petersen led the Mustangs with 14 kills and Mariah Topp added 12 to help Midkota advance to Friday nights semifinals against No. 1 Oakes. Ashley McFadgen of BCN led all hitters with 15 kills.
No. 2 Lamoure/Litchville/Marion over No. 7 Ellendale 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-12)
Ellie Holen had a match high 15 kills, Ryleigh Podoll added 12 and Ashlyn Rode had 11 to help the Loboes win in the first round. The Loboes had eight total aces, Podoll led the way with three. Ellendale had 16 total kills, Taylor Krege and Morgan Fischer each had five.
No. 3 Carrington over No. 6 Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-8)
Junior Hannah Hagel had 16 kills and Junior Lexus Page had five aces to help the Cardinals defeat the Rebels in the last match of the evening. Senior Maren Berntson led EKM with six kills and three stuff blocks.

545pm – No. 1 Oakes vs. Midkota (semifinal)
