ABERDEEN, S.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The name of the pilot found in a single-engine Cessna plane crash north of Aberdeen, SD has been released.

Brown County Emergency Manager Scott Meints reports that with the assistance of the Aberdeen Fire and Rescue team, they were able to recover the pilot from the crash scene about 3 miles north of Aberdeen Monday.

“The pilot was the only occupant of the plane,” Meints stated. “An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday in Grand Forks, ND.”

The pilot and registered owner of the plane was identified as Gerald Seliski, 70, of rural Hecla, South Dakota.

“NTSB is expected to arrive in Aberdeen today (Tuesday). They will take over the investigation of the crash and the recovery of the plane,” Meints stated.

More information may be expected later as plane recovery progresses.

the plane took off from Aberdeen bound for Oakes, North Dakota on October 9th, but it never arrived and was found almost two weeks later.
