WAHPETON, N.D. (Newsdakota.com) – Valley City created a log jam in the Eastern Dakota Conference volleyball standings with a straight set win over Wahpeton on Tuesday night in Wahpeton. The Hi-Liners beat the Huskies 25-15, 25-22, 25-10 and are now in a four way tie for third place in the conference.

The Hi-Liners never trailed in the first set winning by 25-15. But the Huskies, who have one just two sets all season, led the second set early on at 9-4. But Valley City would come back to score six straight points to take a 10-9 lead. It would be back and forth the rest of the set with the Hi-Liners prevailing 25-22.

Valley City used that momentum to jump out  to an 8-2 lead in the third set. The Huskies got to within 9-5, but Valley City ended the set on a 16-5 run, including the last seven points,  for the 25-10 win.

Macy Olstad led the offense with nine kills. Lindsey Noeske had seven. Cali Halgrimson and Jadyn Dieterle had five kills each. Natalie Lemnus had 15 assists and Dylann Diegel had 10. The defense was led by Halgrimson with 23 digs. Olstad had 12, Alyssa Hatcher had nine and Jocey Kriewald added eight. Peyton Pederson had three blocks. Noeske and Olstad had two each.

Valley City is now 10-6 on the EDC and 13-8 overall. They will travel to Davies for a match with the conference leading Eagles on Thursday.
