Wallace was born November 30, 1932 to Joseph and Margaretha (Lonski) Legge in Jamestown, North Dakota. He attended grade school at Brimer Township School and high school at St. Catherine’s Catholic School in Valley City. He married his bride of 65 years, Carol Reidman, on October 26, 1954. Together they raised 4 daughters and 3 sons on a farm near Eckelson. Wallace lived his entire life and farmed in the Barnes County area, loving every spring planting, fall harvest, sun filled summer day and snow piled winters. You could often see Wallace tapping his foot because he loved music and dancing with his bride as members of the Valley City Eagles Club. He enjoyed traveling to visit his family and making the Medora Musical an annual event. He was also a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He will be remembered as a farmer who worked hard, a breadwinner who provided for his family, a husband who fiercely loved his wife, a father who loved his children, and a neighbor that knew the importance of community.
Wallace is survived by his loving wife Carol, children Maribeth (Don) Miller; Scott (Judy) Legge, Brenda McLaughlin, Doug (Deanna) Legge, Lori (Leonard) Stevenson, and Dwight (Patty) Legge; grandchildren Bethany (Aaron) Fiskum, Emily (Jeff) Leggett, Becky (AJ) Simpson, Ryan (Andra) Legge, Evan (Heather) Legge, Heath Legge, Hannah Legge, Cory (Mandi) Quigley and Karla (Tracy) Koenig and 11 great grandchildren and a sister, Janice (Pete) Bemelen.
In addition to his parents, Wallace is preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Legge, brother James Legge, and sisters Wanda Wyse and Margaret Eslinger.
