VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The city of Valley City held its second daily flood meeting Monday morning at the City Commission Chambers.
In that meeting City Administrator David Schelkoph gave an outline of what the city is doing and needs to do to prepare for flooding of parts of the city. Schelkoph says thanks to the flood manuel, which contains information gathered over the years by the people who have fought floods before in Valley City, the city is currently in good shape.
Scott Tichy who is the representative of the Army Corp of Engineers at Baldhill Dam outlined a plan for gate release for this week.
Schelkoph says because of the plans put in place seven years ago, sandbagging may not be an option.
The city will hold daily meetings all this week from the commission chambers to update the public on the flood situation. You can hear those meetings live on 1490AM/96.3 FM and Newsdakota.com beginning at 9am every day this week.
