ABERDEEN, S.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The search continues for a missing airplane despite blizzarding conditions between North Dakota & South Dakota.

Brown County Emergency Manager Scott Meints reports that agencies from both states have been continuing their search for the single engine Cessna and lone pilot.

“The weather did allow ground and air crews to get back out late Friday afternoon,” Meints pointed out. “Ground crews were able to continue to search areas of interest again on both sides of the SD / ND state line. Also, two U.S. Air Force helicopters were in the area providing both visual and onboard electronic listening devices for the airplanes emergency beacon.”

Contact with commercial aviation has also been made for any commercial flights that go over the area to listen for the emergency beacon.

“Ground crews are out working Saturday again, but poor weather conditions have grounded any type of air search,” Meints reports.

North Dakota & South Dakota Civil Air Patrol crews are planning to be in the air Sunday if weather allows.
