JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Medical Center is providing an option to patients to break the excuses of work and weekday life.
Fittingly, No Excuses is held during the month of October for National Breast Health Awareness. Jason Schaffer, Radiology Manager for JRMC, says this expands their current offerings.
Schaffer says they recommend getting screening at the age of 40.
JRMC was the first hospital in the state to offer 3D Mammography services. JRMC Marketing Manager Katie Ryan-Anderson says this is apart of the organization’s plan to grow and provide high-quality services.
The North Dakota Department of Health says that the risk factors of breast cancer include family or personal history of the disease, being over 50 years of age, and having radiation therapy before the age of 30.
“It’s great to know that when women discover breast cancer in its early stages, their five-year survival rate may increase to 98%,” said Susan Mormann, Women’s Way Director for the North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH). “Without that early detection, the five-year survival rate may drop to 27% in later stages or if the cancer cells have spread to other parts of the body. Working with your health care provider, you can identify your risk factors along with how often you should be screened.”
3D mammograms during the No Excuses events are free, due in large part to fundraising from RM Stoudt of Jamestown. The scheduled events include:
Saturday, Oct. 26th from 8AM to 3PM
Tuesday, Nov 5th from 11AM to 6:30PM
Friday, Nov. 8th from 8AM to Noon
To schedule a mammogram, call JRMC Mammography at (701) 952-4852.
