Cynthia Berger, age 65, of Valley City, ND, died Sunday, September 29th at Edgewood Senior Living Care Center in Jamestown, ND. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 7th at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday morning.
Cynthia Jean Vogt, the daughter of Lawrence “Bud” and Lorrayne (Wall) Vogt, was born October 28, 1953 in Duluth, MN. At the age of 3, Cindy and her family moved to Jamestown, ND where she grew up and attended school graduating from Jamestown High School in 1971. After her graduation, she attended Valley City State University in Valley City, ND. While attending VCSU, she met her future husband, George Berger. The couple were married on December 19, 1975 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City. She graduated from VCSU with an elementary education degree. Cindy taught at Barnes County North High School for 37 years until her retirement in 2012. Shortly after her retirement, Cindy was diagnosed with early onset Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). Cindy’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and sharing her husbands and children’s accomplishments with everyone that would listen. She loved her cats, working events at the Valley City Eagles Club and going on walks all over Valley City. Cindy was known to enjoy a Dairy Queen “Sprinkle” Crunch Cone, decorating for Christmas and watching the Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune.
Cindy is survived by her husband George, Binford, ND; her two children, Adam (Fiancé Heather Seitz) and Bridget Berger, all Fargo, ND; her mother, Lorrayne Vogt, Jamestown, ND; two sisters, Barb Vogt, Helena, MT and Patty Christensen, Jamestown, ND; numerous nieces and nephews.
Cindy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lawrence C. and Katherine Vogt, her father, Lawrence “Bud” Vogt, and her beloved cats Koby and Kimber.
