JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County Park Board member Joan Morris brought forth a verbal agreement for them to consider between the county and the DAK Concessionaires.
Previously, an agreement between the board and Dean and Wanda Alber, who operate Pelican Point Place Landing and Campgrounds. Both parties have been working towards a renewed contract for the past three months.
Morris reported that the county would continue to handle vendor services and DAK would pay a $30,000 fee by February 1st, 2020.
Morris says cost of operating the campground reportedly stood at $35,000. She says if they didn’t have a contract with DAK, they would also be responsible for pumping the site.
County Commissioner Steve Cichos stated that the contract would allow the Alber’s to continue working at the site for a year and sets up a system of communication to eliminate blindsiding.
Cichos said they agreed to move forward for a year to see how it works out.
When the board voted, it failed on a 4 to 3 no vote. The commission then approved to bid the concession contract for Pelican’s Point and approved sending in the project application.
