Oakes, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Well for anyone wondering if the (5-0) Lisbon Broncos football team is for real, just ask the #2 rated (4-1) Oakes Tornadoes.  Both teams were 4-0 going into Friday nights game at Oakes.  An extremely difficult place to win.  Add in that it was Homecoming night and it looked like it may be a long night for Lisbon.

Instead it ended up being a heavy weight clash between two teams that traded touchdowns almost all night.  A total of 86 points were scored between the 2 teams.  With Lisbon winning 48 to 38.  Incredibly no defense seems to be able to slow down the Broncos rushing attack for very long.  The Broncos added another 420 yards rushing on the ground.  Every week we have been talking about the Broncos 2 headed back field.  Led by #2 Jordan Sours and #12 Hunter Schultz.  Last night Sours rushed for 231 yards and 4 TD’s.  More amazing, through 5 games Sours has now rushed for 1005 yards and 15 TD’s.  Hunter also chipped in 148 yards of his own on the ground and 3 TD’s.  For the season Schultz has rushed for 624 yards and 9 TD’s in 5 games.

It’s also time to give you the names of the lineman who have been plowing the way:  #55 Sam Rieger, #56 Caleb Olson, #60 Jacob Bear, #65 Ethan Lyons, and #70 Isac Bentten.

The road doesn’t get any easier for the Broncos.  Next Friday Lisbon will travel to take on the (4-1) Thompson Tommies.  The Tommies only loss this year was to Oakes.  The Tommies last year won the 9-man State Championship.

We talked to Lisbon coach Joe Gerding postgame:
