JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – 6th Graders from the Jamestown Middle School attended an Arbor Day Dedication and tree planting on Friday, September 27th.
Mayor Dwaine Heinrich addressed the group and gave his proclamation recognizing Arbor Day in Jamestown.
Heinrich recognized all the benefits that trees provide, solidifying their importance around the world.
Following the presentation, several 6th grade students gave some of their findings and topics they wanted to further explore and learn this year in school.
Following the presentations, Jamestown City Forester Erik Laber and several volunteers led about 60 students from the 6th Grade science class outside the Jamestown Civic Center to plant trees around the building.
Laber says the day helped provide information on just how important trees were to the community.
Below are some photos and video from the event.
