JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The West Region volleyball standings figure to be a cluster most of the year with five teams in contention for the number-one spot come playoff time.

Jamestown has helped themselves with back-to-back home wins over two of those teams.

The Jays were able to hold off St. Mary’s 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-18, 25-19) to join Mandan and Bismarck at 6-1 in the conference.

Grace Hegerle lead Jamestown hitters with 15 kills. Kameron Selvig had 34 assists and Rachel Schiele had 20 digs.

Jamestown has two more matches this week; Thursday at Minot and Friday at home against Turtle Mountain. Both teams in the lower half of the West and as the only team with two more matches this week, a chance for the Jays to have sole possession of first place by Friday night.
