BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota residents will be hitting the fields Saturday as the resident waterfowl season opens September 21st.

The early waterfowl season is open only to residents of North Dakota. The regular season begins the week after on September 28th.

North Dakota Game & Fish Outdoor Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier says the limit of 6 ducks per day provides more opportunity to hunters. He says the Canada Goose season also changes from the early season to regular season.

With that, the daily limit also increases to 8 and 24 in possession.

Leier also encourages hunters to take care of the roads they use.

Leier says to also be mindful of zebra mussels on boats if you’re using them during the waterfowl season.
