(OAKES, N.D.) Oakes Times -Randy Burley, a 1978 graduate of Oakes High School, and 33-year veteran of the Oakes Volunteer fire department, will be inducted into the Oakes Public School Hall of Fame on Monday, September 23, at 7:00 pm. The induction will be held in the South Gym in conjunction with the coronation of the 2019 Homecoming King and Queen.

Randy served as Oakes Fire Chief for 17 years. He was a certified extrication instructor and trained many firefighters locally as well as at regional trainings and the annual state fire school. He implemented and led fire safety training for elementary students for many years. Randy received the North Dakota Community Leadership Award in 1999. He was inducted into the North Dakota Firefighters Hall of Fame in 2018.

A reception will be held in Randy’s honor in the OPS Concessions Area prior to the ceremony beginning at 5:30. Anyone wishing to reminisce with Randy and celebrate his service to the community are encouraged to attend.
