CARRINGTON, N.D. – Three Vikings finished in the Top 10 Tuesday as the VCSU women’s golf team wrapped up the 36-hole UJ Fall Invite with a third-place team finish.
The Vikings shot a season-best score of 349 on Tuesday afternoon at Crossroads Golf Course in Carrington. VCSU finished the two-day tournament with a 707 team score (358-349) which was good for third place. University of Jamestown won the meet with a 655 while Dickinson State took second with a 681.
Individually, the Vikings had three golfers in the Top 10 after strong rounds on Tuesday. Hayley Shanks and Jocelyn Braunberger tied for seventh place overall with a two-day total of 172. Braunberger went 86-86 in her two rounds, while Shanks shot 88-84. Shanks’ 84 on Tuesday was the best round of the tournament by a Viking golfer.
VCSU senior Taren Braunberger also carded a Top 10 finish as she was just one shot back of her teammates with a 173 (88-85) – tying her for ninth place. Also for VCSU, Gabby Wilkie placed 14th with a 181 (93-88), Maddie Wilkie finished 18th with a 190 (96-94) and Megan McNamee was 20th with a 197 (99-98).
