JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commission heard more from the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corporation (JSDC) on the planned National Guard Armory.
The facility would locate in the Airport Industrial Park, which is nearing completion. The JSDC earlier approved a one-time payment of $350,000 for a 40-year lease of 16 acres of land for the new armory.
Business Development Director Corry Shevlin says the project is very unique.
Shevlin says they’ll use the funds to secure a lease for the armory.
When a National Guard armory is built, the community has to provide the land. The National Guard will construct the building.
The commission unanimously approved of their portion of the 80/20 split between the county and city. The cost for the county will be $70,000 JSDC funding and the rest of the $280,000 through the city.
