JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Big plays on both in all facits of the game, that was the recipe used by Jamestown in a 22-21 win over Dickinson Friday night in the West Region opener for both teams at Ernie Gates Field.
Dickinson scored first with 4:04 remaining in the first quarter on a 14 yard pass from Landon Aman tpo Alex Praus on a post pattern. Ethan Wardell tacked on the extra point to put the Midgets up 7-0. It was the first time in three games that the Blue Jays did not score first.
Then with 8:55 to go in the half, the Jays would answer with a 35 yard touchdown pass from Tommy Falk to Jacob Hilgeman. Reece Kleinknecht added the point after to tie the game at 7 at the half.
In the third quarter, Jamestown struck first. After Hilgeman intercepted a Arman pass, it was only fitting the junior get rewarded. On the first play of the drive, Falk found Hilgeman streaking down the far sideline and hit him in stride for a 75 yard touchdown. Kleinknecht’s extra point made it 14-7.
Dickinson would come right back and 38 seconds into the fourth quarter Luke Mavity ranit in from three yards out. But on the extra point, Bryan Mitchell came in from the left side and blocked the kick. With nearly a whole quarter to go, Jamestown led 14-13.
But the Jays would take the ensuing drive and use 5:22 off the fourth quarter clock and punch in a Falk six yard run. Devin Beach caught Falk’s two-point conversion to make it 22-13.
Dickinson would need just four plays to take down field with quarterback Arman taking it in from 44 yards out.
Tommy Falk would recover the onside kick and Jamestown was able to run out the clock.
Jamestown in 2-1 on the season while Jamestown falls to 1-2.
