JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Anne Carlsen Center in Jamestown hires numerous individuals, but one of the biggest areas of employment is their Direct Support Professionals (DSP).

Tom Gaffaney is the Residential Operations Manager and works with their DSP’s on a daily basis.

Gaffaney says they employee upwards of 200 direct support professionals at the Anne Carlsen Center. He pointed out that they provide a diversity of different services.

Gaffaney says they have DSP’s in the community, their residential area, students in classrooms and more.

With the 200 DSP’s they have on staff, Gaffaney says it’s easy to say it’s one of the most important jobs at the Anne Carlsen Center specifically.

Gaffaney says individuals can have zero experience before becoming a DSP. All they have to do is love helping others.

Because they hire so many, Gaffaney says they’re always looking for more to join their staff. Whether it’s a change in career or something that sounds like you love doing, you’re encouraged to learn more by contacting the Anne Carlsen Center or any other business hiring DSPs.

Direct Support Professional week is September 8th through the 14th. You’re invited to celebrate a DSP anyway you see fit for what they continue to do on scene and behind the scenes.
