BISMARCK, N.D. (Prarie Public Radio) – North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says he believes the amount of soybean acreage will drop next year.
Goehring says the continuing trade dispute with China will be one reason – but it’s not the only reason.
Goehring says he believes there are some things domestically that could be done to increase the demand for soybeans.
A proposed soybean crushing plant to be built in Spiritwood is still up in the air. The Spiritwood Energy Park Association attempted to end an agreement with North Dakota Soybean Processors for a proposed $287 million processing plant.
The Soybean Processors has taken the Association to court for breach of contract. A judge issued a temporary restraining order to stop the termination – and a hearing will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) in district court in Fargo.
