ELLENDALE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The annual battle of the Dakotas high school football game between Groton, South Dakota and Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm went to the Tigers Friday night in Ellendale as Groton defeated The Thunder 22-12.
The Tigers struck for two first quarter touchdowns and never looked back.
Sophomore QB Kaden Kurtz threw a td pass and also ran for a score to stake his team to an early lead.
Senior RB Jonathan Doeden had a big game for the Tigers as he caught a TD pass, ran for another and also converted on a 2 point conversion.
Thunder Senior Qb Cale Mathern threw for two TD passes, one to Junior TE Wyatt Henningson and another to Senior WR Jace Hanson.
The Tigers improve to 2-0 and the Thunder slip to 1-1.
The next Thunder Country 98.3 high school football game of the week will be Friday night September 6th as Griggs County Central travels to LaMoure-Litchville-Marion.
Kick-off is set for 7:00 pm.
