VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The annual Community Extravaganza hosted by the Sheyenne Valley Backing the Badge to build a stronger community was held on August 29th in Valley City.

Co-event coordinator Teri McClaflin said the gathering was a chance for the community to visit with civil servants who respond to emergencies on a daily basis.

About a dozen women formed the Sheyenne Valley Backing the Badge back in 2016 to support local law enforcement, fire fighters and emergency paramedics. The event recognizes and honors the dangerous and hard work these people do to protect our community.

Barnes County Sheriff’s Deputies, Valley City Police officers, Conservation officers with the ND Game & Fish Department and members from the U.S Army Corps of Engineers were also on hand to meet and greet the public.

A free meal of hot dogs, beans, chips and water was served to all who attended the event held in downtown Valley City on August 29th.
