JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commission heard from Dell Horn, Director of Jamestown Community Corrections regarding a 2020 agreement.
The Community Corrections Program provides criminal offenders the opportunity to serve in the community and complete productive work in an approved manner.
Horn informed the commission on August 20th that the agreement was the same except for an increase in pay and funding. Horn pointed out they would increase wage from $1.35 to $1.50 for those in the program.
Horn says this would cost the county around $7,300 annually. He says at this time, the full-time director position was cut from 40 hours a week to just eight.
Horn says since 1991, they’ve had ups and downs in referrals from the courts. He says they lost customers after some changes in the legislature.
The commission decided to take the request under advisement to see how close the budget would be before making any decisions. The submitted preliminary budget included a $6,000 decrease in the corrections portion of the general fund.
