JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A tradition passed down through families, canning and preserving food has been around for decades.
The NDSU Extension Service of Stutsman County will be holding three separate courses on canning and food preservation September 4th, 9th, and 16th.
Extension Agent Christina Rittenbach says the idea for the courses came from the public.
Over the years, research has identified the correct and safest ways to can and preserve. Rittenbach says this maybe coincide with traditional ways and could be unsafe.
Rittenbach says the first course will feature food preservation facts & myths. The next two will be water bath & pressure canning.
Space is limited for the highly-requested workshop, but Rittenbach says anyone is welcome to stop by their offices and ask questions or collect information they have.
For more information on the workshop or NDSU Extension Service of Stutsman County, call 701-252-9030 or visit www.ag.ndsu.edu/stutsmancountyextension.
