VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The future direction of the Phase V permanent flood protection project in Valley City was discussed during a city commission meeting on August 20.
KLJ Engineer Chad Petersen proposed one adjustment along 6th Street SW due to river bank erosion. He said we have a plan for emergency repairs but it may be a good idea to tie the project into Phase V to save money.
Petersen said under the plan one additional lift station would be required.
City Commissioner Ross Powell asked if this project is taking funding away from other infrastructure projects in the city.
But City Administrator David Schelkoph said funding for flood protection projects comes from the state water commission and doesn’t affect other city improvement projects.
The city commission voted unanimously to move forward with several of the proposals discussed during the August 20th meeting.
