JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown has given final approval for the stormwater utility fee to be implemented later this year.

Following numerous meetings and discussions, the council had AE2S form two different resolutions and fee structures for implementation.

Shawn Gaddie provided the breakdown of the resolutions to the council.

Previously it was reported that there would be a flat fee of $3 per property with the total fee for each property being determined by the size of the property and the amount of impervious area that causes stormwater to run off rather than soaking into the ground.

After consideration, the council decided to proceed with an Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU) structure. This would be a base fee of $1.25 with charges through the amount of square footage for each property.

The max amount that could be charged on this scale would be $204.25. Anything that would be higher than that would be capped off at the max amount.

The city approved the new rate structure with plans to increase the base to $4 after one year.
