JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Back to school was Thursday, August 22nd in Jamestown.
With everyone getting back into the back to school routine, Jamestown Safety Resource Officer Andrew Staska says safety should be a top concern for all. One thing to keep in mind is school zone speeds and the switch in the morning and afternoon.
Officer Staska says motorists and pedestrians also need to be mindful of crosswalks. With warmer weather, more kids are biking and walking to school.
When it comes to school buses, Officer Staska says a good rule of thumb is to not pass a bus when it’s stopped on the road. Regardless if the arms are out and stop sign is flashing.
Staska says another way parents and guardians can handle pickup and dropoff in school zones is to avoid double parking, don’t park in no parking zones, and establish a pickup location for after school.
