JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown Block Party has become a staple event for the past 10 years and continues for its 11th year August 28th.
Dustin Jensen, Dean of Engagement and Student Affairs, says the event first started for students but has grown to encompass the community of Jamestown.
Conference Services Coordinator Trish Herzig says they already have more than 100 vendors lined up for the main street event.
Herzig says they’ll have bounce houses and the dunk tank will return this year. She says they’ll also have the emergency services on hand like they did last year.
Jenna Windjue is a returning Junior to the University of Jamestown and has experienced the block party twice.
Windjue says a highlight of the event for the students and the community is when the incoming students, led by President Polly Peterson, come down the hill from the University into the Block Party.
Jensen says the move to a Wednesday for the event was so students and community could travel to Valley City to support the football team on Thursday.
He says the event also acts as a way for the University of Jamestown to show their appreciation to the community.
