VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Dacotah Bank gave the Barnes County museum $1,500 toward their awning project on Friday, August 9th in Valley City.

Museum Director Wes Anderson said, “our awning was built into our building in 1956 and since that time, it has had a problem with snow, causing it to stay up there all winter and the melting onto the sidewalk, making a perpetual ice skating rink that is only worse with the extra two feet of sidewalk.”

Anderson said, “we’ve tried other means to try to fix or mitigate it, but none of them worked. The plan now is to put a steeply pitched roof over the awning to get the snow off as quickly as possible.”

Anderson said the City of Valley City agreed to help with $2,500 from Image and Beautification dollars and we’ve received an additional $1,200 the Rural Development Corporation for this project.
