JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County Commissioner Mark Klose states that he is concerned with how much money the Stutsman County Park Board will be out once Bureau of Land Reclamation Land Transfer goes through.
Tuesday evening, Darin Peterson, Cabin Owner’s Association President, stated they were prepared to give the county a check for $34,000 to complete their end of the transfer.
The bill to transfer the land was signed by President Donald Trump on December 17th, 2018. The bill would allow homeowners the opportunity to purchase their lots around the Jamestown Reservoir.
Commission Chairman Mark Klose was concerned with the estimated loss in revenue to the county in the memorandum of agreement.
Klose said he was uncomfortable with the unanswered questions and with the significant funding loss, he was unsure where it would leave the Park Board and County Commission.
Commissioner Dave Schwartz says there were some options they were working on in anticipation of this to help address the shortfall.
The Park Board approved of accepting the $34,000 from the Cabin Owner’s Association with Mark Klose voting no.
