JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A full-scale training and exercise is planned for Monday night in Jamestown.

Stutsman County Assistant Emergency Manager Kim Franklin says the exercise is designed to test local emergency operations plans and response capabilities that relate to an aviation incident.

“Emergency response agencies will react to an airplane crash scenario where volunteers will act as crash victims with injuries that could possibly be sustained in a real aviation accident,” Franklin explained. “Participating response agencies will test their skills at the scene and some of the actors will be transported to the hospital to continue the simulation.”

The event is not real, however the simulated response will be as realistic as possible. The exercise will begin at approximately 6:30 PM and will largely take place at the Jamestown Regional Airport and Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

“Emergency response vehicles utilized during the exercise will be staged in the Jamestown High School parking lot before the exercise starts. Emergency vehicles may be responding with lights and sirens but will follow all normal traffic rules.”

During the exercise, only emergency response vehicles, participating personnel, and individuals with a specific need will be allowed access to the airport property during the training.

Participating agencies and organizations in this exercise include: Jamestown Regional Airport, Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown Fire Department, Jamestown Area Ambulance, Jamestown Police Department, Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office, Stutsman County Communications Center, Central Valley Health District, North Dakota Highway Patrol, American Red Cross, Freedom Resource Center, SkyWest Airlines and Stutsman County Emergency Management.
