WATFORD CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Another four games took place at the 2019 Class B State Babe Ruth Baseball tournament on Saturday, all four games were decided by one run, here are the results:
Surrey 11 Hazen 10 (loser out)
Langdon 4 Watford City 3 (loser out)
Thompson 9 Casselton 8, 8 innings (quarterfinal)
Lamoure 3 Sheyenne/New Rockford 2 (quarterfinal)
In the top of the seventh inning, SNR would get the tying run at first base and only one out, the next batter struck out and then John Grann hit a line drive to left-center field but Center fielder Cyle Warcken made a great catch to get the final out. Starting pitcher Anthony Hanson worked six and two-thirds innings allowing just two earned runs on four hits, nine strikeouts and two walks to help the Lamoure A’s move into the semifinal against Thompson on Sunday. He reached his 95 pitches max in the top of the seventh inning, Connor Johnson came in and got the final out. Alex Harrison suffered the loss, working six innings on 87 pitches, three runs, two earned, eight strikeouts and one walk. Kaden Jensen was 1-for-2 at the plate with a double and two RBI for SNR.
Sunday’s schedule:
10am – SNR vs. Surrey (loser out) (Q101)
1230pm – Casselton vs. Langdon (loser out)
3pm – Lamoure vs. Thompson (semifinal) (Q101)
530pm – winner of 10am game vs. winner of 1230pm game (loser out)
Both the 10am game and 3pm game will be broadcast on Q101.1 FM and newsdakota.com, and possibly the 530pm game if SNR wins.
