New Rockford Post 30    6          Kidder County Post 231    3
New Rockford scored 6 runs in the third and fourth innings to defeat Kidder County 6-3 to advance to the District 4 championship game. Trailing 2-0 going into the third inning Post 30 number 8 and 9 batters (Koven Walford and Colter Soderholm) opened the inning with back to back singles and scored later on a bases loaded walk to Teddy Allmaras (2-3, RBI, run, 2 stolen bases) and a Hunter Thompson single. Bo Belquist also scored on a bases loaded walk to score the third run of the inning. Belquist (2-3, 2 runs, RBI) added an RBI double in the fourth inning. Nathan Holzwarth picked up the win on the mound pitching from the third inning on allowing 1 earned run. Kidder County starting pitcher Ross Schneider took the pitching loss. Kidder County scored 2 unearned runs in the first inning and had just 3 hits in the game. Kidder County finished it’s season with a 9-10 overall record.

Carrington will be heading to the North Dakota state class B legion tournament for the 6th consecutive year after defeating New Rockford 7-6 in the District 4 championship game. Carrington took care of the championship in the first try as New Rockford needed to defeat Carrington twice to advance to the state tournament.
New Rockford scored first with an RBI single from Hunter Thompson in the first inning scoring who singled earlier and moved to second base on a past ball. Carrington would take the lead in the bottom of the second inning with 3 unearned runs aided by 2 New Rockford errors and a pair of RBI singles from Brandon Larson and Lucas Geiszler. Trey Rosenau scored the first run of the inning reaching on an error to start the inning and scored on a past ball. Post 25 added 2 more runs in the third inning on Nic Lyman’s 2 RBI single scoring Rosenau (2-4, 2 runs), who singled earlier in the inning and Larson (1-3, 2 runs, RBI) who reached on a fielders choice.
Trailing 5-1, New Rockford scored 4 runs in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at 5-5. Post 30 had just one hit in the inning, a 2 RBI single from Colter Soderholm that scored both Luke Ystaas and Koven Walford who walked earlier in the inning.Carrington had a fielding error and walked 3 batters to aid the 4 run inning.
Carrington took the lead back in the bottom of the fourth with 2 runs including an RBI single from Drew Page that scored Geiszler walked earlier and stole second base. Page later scored on a wild pitch. New Rockford added 1 run in the sixth inning on an RBI sacrifice fly from Allmaras that scored Nick Presnell who singed to start the inning. Seth Nelson was the winning pitcher for Carrington, he recorded 7 strikeouts and walked 5 batters. Geiszler pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to pickup the save, retiring the final 5 batters he faced. Bo Belquist took the loss on the mound. New Rockford ended it’s season with a 22-6 overall record. Carrington improved to 23-7 and will play the host team, Hazen in the first round of the state tournament starting next Wednesday, July 31st.
