JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown Finance & Legal Committee moved Tuesday evening to recommend increasing the City Sales Tax.
A first reading was held to re-enact Section 25.5 of the City Code to increase the sales tax by one-half percent effective January 1st, 2020.

Mayor Dwaine Heinrich stated that $2-million dollars needs to be in the 2020 budget to meet the balance and have a proper amount in the reserve fund. He says the money will be allocated as needed.

The committee unanimously approved the first reading of the ordinance. Councilmember Pam Phillips was absent from the meeting.
