JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Mary’s Place at Safe Shelter has a new swing set thanks to the work of Agri-Cover, Inc. employees.
Thes swingset was installed this summer at Mary’s Place, the new Safe Shelter building, located in Jamestown.
Jack McGregor, an Agri-Cover, Inc. engineer led the construction efforts.
“I learned a lot about Safe Shelter while I served on the Mary’s Place building committee,” said Joan Morris, who spearheaded the fundraising for the project. “One of the issues that hit home was that often times there are children involved in a domestic violence situation. Mary’s Place has an indoor playroom, but I thought it would be nice if these kids also had an outdoor swing set to play on, giving them a sense of normalcy. So, I asked Jack if he would help build the swing set. Jack has a construction background, but more importantly, he has a heart of gold. He is a member of the El Zagel Clowns in Jamestown and just loves seeing children smile.”
Jack recruited other Agri-Cover, Inc. employees, Shawn Wock, Brent Schulz and Josh Gudmestad, to assist in the assembly of the swing set. Josh’s son, Jayden Gudmestad, served as the construction foreman.
“We are thrilled that this project is complete. We’re even more thrilled that just minutes after they put their tools away, we had children playing on the swing set. The kids gave us their stamp of approval,” said Lynne Tally, Executive Director of Safe Shelter.
“The swing set was purchased with donations from the El Zagel Clowns, Agri-Cover, Inc., the Rotary Club, and PEO Chapter K,” Tally said. “We are so grateful for the combined efforts of the donors and builders. Their gifts will help us provide some fun for the children who stay here. We can’t thank them enough.”
