VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Abused Persons Outreach Center (APOC) will launch Green Dot, a violence prevention program on July 24th in Valley City.
APOC, through the North Dakota Dept of Health and a grant from the Center for Disease Control, is launching a violence prevention program in Valley City. Green Dot seeks to engage all members of the community as bystanders who can identify behaviors that lead to harm (red dots) and respond in a way that will make it less likely the harm occurs or gets worse (green dots).
The Valley City Green Dot launch is taking place throughout Crazy Daze on July 24th.
There will be scavenger hunt for children to allow them to learn about Green Dot by engaging with local businesses and employees, some of whom have gone through the bystander training. There will be Green Dot booth allowing adults to walk through everyday scenarios where they may witness violence and briefly offer tools to address and end that violence. All who participate are entered into a raffle drawing for an Amazon Echo Dot, gift cards from local businesses.
As part of the Green Dot launch, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at APOC’s new location at 160 2nd Ave NW, Valley City, ND 58072.
